Plipcard

Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective: September 26, 2026

Plipcard makes physical NFC business cards that open an editable digital profile, plus a customer portal (website and iOS app) to manage it. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Plipcard (plipcard.com) is a service owned and operated by Colmex Services LLC ("Plipcard", "we"), 1737 6th Avenue, Oakland, CA 94606, USA, which is the party responsible for your personal information.

1. Information we collect

From card owners (customers)

  • Account: your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time link or code.
  • Your card profile: name, job title, company, phone, WhatsApp, email, website, social links, bio, address, photo, logo, background images or video, colors and other details you choose to put on it. Your profile is public by design: anyone who opens or taps your card can see it.
  • Orders and billing: the name, shipping address and email for your card order, and your plan and subscription status. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never receive or store your full card number.
  • Notifications: if you turn them on in the iOS app, a token that identifies your phone, linked to your email, so we can send you alerts (for example, when someone leaves you their details).

From people who open a card

  • We count how a card is used: views, contact saves and link taps. These counts are not tied to a name, email or account.
  • If the owner has turned on contact capture, you can choose to send them your name, email, phone and a message. We store it for the owner and email it to them.
  • Our hosting providers may process technical data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure.

In the iOS app

  • Face ID / Touch ID: if you turn on the app lock, your phone checks your face or fingerprint. That data stays on your device; Plipcard never receives it.
  • Camera and card scanner: when you scan a paper business card, the photo is read on your phone to pull out text. The photo is not uploaded or stored by us.
  • Scanned contacts: the details read from a card (name, company, phone, email, website, address) and any notes you write are saved in your Plipcard account so you can find them later. This is information about other people that you choose to keep. You can edit or delete each contact at any time in the app.
  • Saving to your phone's contacts happens only when you confirm it, using Apple's own contact screen.

Cookies and similar storage

  • We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your language and a few preferences (such as whether the app lock is on).
  • We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How we use it

  • To make your card and portal work: show your profile, sign you in, apply your plan and process your order.
  • To send you what you ask for: sign-in links and codes, order and billing messages, and notifications you turned on.
  • To show you how your card is used (views, saves and link taps).
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
  • To send product news, only if you agreed to it. You can opt out at any time.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We use these service providers, who process it only to run Plipcard:

  • Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in.
  • Vercel: hosting for the website and app content.
  • Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
  • Resend: sending email.
  • Apple: push notifications, Apple Wallet passes, and the App Store / TestFlight.
  • Google: Google Wallet passes, if you add one.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Plipcard and its users.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. Contact leads and scanned contacts stay until you delete them. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile, contacts and notification tokens, except what we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, order records). We also keep a minimal deletion record, in a table called deleted_accounts, with your email address, the ID of your card and the date of deletion, so we can show that the request was carried out.

5. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile and delete your leads and scanned contacts from your portal. You can turn notifications and the app lock off in the app or in your phone's settings, and you can unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link in any of them.

To access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, or to object to how we use it, email contact@plipcard.com. We will answer within 30 days. If you live in Mexico, these are your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO) under the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. If you live in California or another U.S. state with a privacy law, you have similar rights to know, correct and delete, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.

6. If you scan someone else's card

Use the scanner only for cards people gave you, and only for a legitimate reason such as keeping in touch. You are responsible for how you use their details. If someone asks you to remove their information, please do.

7. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls and limited access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Where your information is processed

Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using Plipcard, you understand your information may be transferred there.

9. Children

Plipcard is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and for important changes we will let you know in the app, on the website or by email.
